Should You Leave
Should you leave me,
then what?
The clocks will stop,
my heart will cease its rhythm
and my eyes will spring
a fountain where I will drown.
Should you leave me,
then all my tomorrows
are built on sorrows.
Should you leave me
and forget what we have made
then I will wither
like some transient bouquet,
my blossom shrivelling
to decay.
I will paint out all the windows
and lay waste to all my days.
The siege upon my heart
like some tempest
my happiness destroys,
to know that you once loved me
is the greatest of my joys
But the loss
the ache of your absence
will strew the path
of my life with debris
that will scar my soul
with memories of you.
I can't imagine
your fingers not entwined in mine
no gaze of blue and green
staring from the pillow into mine.
I can't exist knowing you are not mine.
